Your final Portfolio counts as 30% of your final grade. This is a brief overview of what you will have to include in the portfolio. There is more information in the course syllabus, and I will be posting that information in Week 12. For now, I just want you to understand that the portfolio consists of basically three sections. First you should include your Best Reading Artifact. That means you should choose and revise one of your rhetorical reading responses. Choose the essay you think is best. You will see my comments and suggestions for revision on both final drafts. After I grade a final draft, I do not allow any more revision for that grade. The Rhetorical Reading Response will be graded again as part of the portfolio.

Section two is your Best Writing Artifact. There you should use either your cultural criticism essay or your argumentative essay. You should receive final grades on these essays soon along with comments for revision.

The third part of the Portfolio is a Reflection of your learning experiences linked to Course Outcomes. It is basically a two part essay in which you will first write a personal narrative about what your first semester in English has been like. You may include other experiences which relate to the class such as learning to use the software and D2L as well as learning how to use your computer to format assignments. You can include any learning experience you have had and discuss what you have learned as well as how you have felt during this whole learning period. The second part of this reflection is to write about your progress in mastering the outcomes for the course. What learning activities and readings have you used to help you master the outcomes? What was helpful for you in learning to master those skills? Learning to write well is a process that can be ongoing. You should mainly be prepared to talk about your progress as well as possible future goals.

Copy and paste these outcomes on your own file. Then for each outcome, tell what activities you have completed in English 1102 that have helped you practice and learn more about this skill. Tell as much as you can for each Outcome Remember that an outcome is like a skill or a goal for learning. The most complete answers get the best grades. Give full explanations of a paragraph or even more about your learning experiences.
