Below you’ll find the text from a marketing brochure for the general public that promotes a new center. Use the content here and rewrite it for a different audience with a different purpose – children who will be having their first appointment at the center. Your objective is to ease their anxiety about what will happen, while being honest about the procedures.

Advanced Imaging Center
At Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, we take pride in creating a place where people who have disabilities come first.
That mission affects everything we do — from designing our hospitals and clinics to choosing the services we provide for our patients.
Gillette’s Advanced Imaging Center extends our mission to a new set of services. We now offer magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound and fluoroscopy exams at our main campus in St. Paul. Our patients no longer have to travel outside Gillette for imaging services. The result is greater convenience for families and a higher quality of care for our patients.
Undergoing ordinary imaging tests can be difficult for children who have disabilities. For example, many of our patients simply can’t remain still during imaging scans because of muscle spasticity (involuntary tightening of their muscles). Other people experience severe pain when they lie in certain positions. Some who have complex disabilities are unable to breathe on their own and require respiratory support.
Until we opened our Advanced Imaging Center, the Twin Cities had limited imaging options for people who have disabilities. Other centers tend to focus on people who have sports injuries or diagnoses such as cancer. Therefore, they are often unequipped to handle the complex needs of people who have multiple, or severe, physical and developmental challenges.
In contrast, caring for people who have disabilities is our mission. Our providers specialize in disability care, and the services we offer reflect what our patients need most. We’re committed to providing advanced imaging services in an environment designed specifically to meet our patients’ needs.
Our state-of-the-art equipment lets us offer all of the imaging tests that our patients most frequently need. In addition to providing high-quality imaging, we have equipment that boasts low radiation and high-speed testing. Those features are especially important to our patients, who often need frequent, repeated exams.
Convenience and Continuity
In many cases, we offer same-day appointments for imaging at Gillette. As a result, patients need fewer follow-up appointments and don’t have to travel for imaging tests. On-site testing also promotes continuity of care. For example, patients’ imaging results automatically become part of their electronic medical records. That gives members of the Gillette care team easy access to the information they need.
On our third floor, we’ve grouped services for which patients often need sedation medicine. In addition to housing the Advanced Imaging Center, our third floor is home to surgical suites, procedure rooms and casting services. For example, we can perform surgery, conduct pre- and postsurgical imaging tests, and apply casts during one episode of sedation— maximizing both safety and convenience for patients.
We designed our Advanced Imaging Center to be warm and inviting, with large imaging rooms and natural light throughout. Our Family Resource Center has computers and health-related information for families to use while at Gillette. We also offer toys, books and decorations that appeal to our younger patients.
Positive Distraction Technology
Our CT and fluoroscopy rooms are equipped with special technology called positive distractions. They use sound, lighting and video images to help patients relax before and during certain procedures and tests. Patients can choose from several distraction themes to create a soothing experience.
St. Paul Radiology — Partners in Care
Sedation Medicine and Pain Management
For patients who are unable to remain still or who experience anxiety during imaging scans, we offer sedation medicine and pain-management techniques. Sedation medicine not only increases our patients’ comfort and safety, but also helps us obtain high-quality images and avoid repeating exams. Our pediatric anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists are experts at giving sedation medicine to people who have disabilities. Our team of specialists lets us accommodate patients with even the most complex medical needs.
Nancy Fisher, M.D., of St. Paul Radiology is the medical director of Imaging at Gillette. Gillette also collaborates with subspecialty radiologists from St. Paul Radiology for certain imaging tests. The collaboration means that we can provide even the most complex imaging tests on-site. The result: advanced medical care that’s convenient for families.
Gillette’s Advanced Imaging Center offers the imaging tests that our patients need most.
Computed Tomography (CT or CAT)
CT uses radiation (X-rays) to take detailed pictures of organs and bones. We commonly use CT scans to diagnose and plan treatments for conditions such as hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain), craniosynostosis (premature fusing of the bones in the skull), and other neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI uses powerful magnets and invisible radio waves to take detailed pictures of organs and other structures, such as blood vessels. The images help doctors diagnose and plan treatments for seizure disorders, traumatic brain injuries and other neurological conditions. MRI also can help doctors identify problems with the kidneys, heart, lungs and other organs.
Fluoroscopy involves taking video X-rays of the digestive system and urinary tract at work. We perform a wide range of fluoroscopy tests on patients who have feeding and swallowing difficulties, kidney reflux, and other conditions that affect the body’s digestive system.
Ultrasound uses sound waves to take pictures of organs and joints. For example, Gillette orthopedic surgeons often use ultrasound scans to detect developmental dysplasia of the hip (an abnormality of the hip joint that is present at birth and can lead to dislocation). Ultrasound also can detect problems in the kidneys, bladder, brain and other organs.
