Situation: With COVID 19, many companies have been forced to close their offices and move their workforces to a “virtual” status, meaning, the employees are now usually working from home. This puts an enormous strain on companies who usually work together in teams or collaboratively. It challenges the managers to ensure work is done correctly, the employees to avoid distraction and work together, and the HR department, to manage the performance management systems.
For this paper, you are the Head of HR for an App development company which employees 500 people, 10% management, 20% support staff, and 70% developers. You are headquartered in Tampa, Florida. You have office locations in Heidelberg, Paris, and Madrid. You have about 40% of your population in Florida and the rest evenly distributed to the other locations.
Your CEO has decided to permanently close as many of the offices down and go to as close to 100% virtual work as possible.
Analysis different performance management systems. Design the best system for this situation. Use org charts, reporting trees, software examples, etc. to demonstration who it will work. Look at everything, evaluation, reward, development, etc.
What effects with this new performance management system have on the creativity of the work and who teams are evaluated and rewarded.
Describe the criteria needed to hire managers and supervisors in this new environment. Think about the old system and requirements. How can you change this to fit the new virtual system?
What are some of the international considerations that need to be considered? You are operating in 4 different countries. What are cultural issues, what are legal issues, management issues, etc.
